If your students report that they are unable to view their grades, inline comments, or feedback in Turnitin, it is usually due to the assignment's date configurations.
Follow the guide below to check your settings and release feedback to your class.
Check the Feedback Release Date
Turnitin is designed to hold all grading and feedback until a specific moment in time. Depending on the assignment type your institution uses, this is known as either the Feedback Release Date or the Post Date.
Before this date passes: Instructors can grade and write feedback privately. Students will not be able to see their scores or feedback.
After this date passes: The system automatically pushes all grades and feedback live to the student view.
How to release feedback immediately
If the scheduled date has not arrived yet, but you are ready for your students to see their feedback, you can change the timing manually:
Open the assignment settings menu.
Locate the Feedback Release Date (or Post Date) field.
Edit the settings to change the calendar date and time to an earlier or current time.
Save your changes. The feedback will become visible to students instantly.
💡 Important: Even if you have adjusted your assignment configuration to hide the Similarity Report from student view, students will still be able to see your grading, rubrics, and feedback annotations once the Feedback Release Date has passed. These two visibility settings operate independently of each other.
