Why does my account shows as expired or inactive?

If you are unable to access your account, or if all of your classes have suddenly become unavailable (for example, showing as inactive or expired even if the end date is in the future), this usually indicates a change in account access or licensing.

The institutional license has expired

Your institution's Turnitin license may have expired. When a license expires, access to all associated classes is temporarily paused.

  • What you should do: Please reach out to your institution's Turnitin account administrator to confirm the status of the institutional account.
  • What happens next: If the license has expired, your administrator will need to contact their Turnitin account manager to renew it. Once renewed, all your classes will automatically become available again.
Your individual user account is locked

If other people at your institution can access their classes normally and only your Turnitin user account is affected, your specific account may have been locked out of the institutional account.

  • What you should do: Contact your institution's Turnitin account administrator directly to discuss your account access.
  • Please note: Turnitin technical support cannot unlock or restore access to your account if it has been locked by your institution. Only your Turnitin account administrator can make this decision and restore your access.
