Important: This article only applies to the Classic Standard Assignment. If you are using the New Standard Assignment experience, papers can only be permanently deleted, meaning this recovery process is not applicable.
If you have removed a student's paper from your assignment inbox, Turnitin Technical Support may be able to restore it for you. Review the options below to determine your next steps based on your current goal:
Our Technical Support team can restore the paper back to your assignment inbox. To request a restoration, please raise a support ticket and provide the following required details:
- A brief confirmation explaining why you need the paper restored to the inbox.
- The email address of the student who originally submitted the paper.
- A separate, active Paper ID from the same assignment inbox.
You do not need to request a paper restoration for these actions. Your Turnitin administrator can manage this directly:
- Permanent deletion: Your Turnitin administrator is able to permanently delete papers that have already been removed from the inbox.
- Downloading files: Administrators also have the option to download the paper and its associated Similarity Report without restoring it to the inbox first.
Note: Papers that have been permanently deleted cannot be recovered.
