As part of our commitment to modernizing Turnitin Feedback Studio (TFS) and Originality Check (OC), several legacy workflows and older tools have been permanently retired. If you cannot locate a specific feature, tab, or tool, it has been removed as part of this scheduled legacy deprecation.
Features removed from the web interface
The retirement of legacy workflows affects users logging into the Turnitin website. For full details and detailed answers to common instructor questions, see our Legacy Workflow Deprecation - Instructor FAQ guide.
Note for LMS/VLE users: These feature removals only affect Turnitin's standalone web interface. If you access Turnitin through an LMS (such as Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, or D2L), these changes did not impact your integration.
Which features have been permanently retired?
- Instructor homepage: Class Summary and Learning Analytics.
- Class view level: Libraries tab, Calendar, Discussion Boards, Preferences, and Class QuickMark breakdown.
- Student view level: Discussion Boards and Calendar.
Where to find core tools now
Although the standalone Libraries tab and homepage links have been removed, your core grading and feedback resources remain fully accessible within active assignment workflows:
- Rubric Manager: Accessible directly when creating or editing an assignment, or from within a submission report.
- QuickMark Manager: Accessible directly within the Similarity Report for any submission.
- PeerMark Questions: Accessible and manageable directly from the relevant PeerMark assignment settings.
- Student Submissions Overview: To review a student's submissions across assignments in a class, use the Grade Book.
Discussion Board content: All Discussion Board posts and class links were permanently removed alongside the feature. Retired legacy features cannot be restored or re-enabled.
Administrative details on legacy deprecation
The deprecation of legacy workflows streamlined the Turnitin web interface. For more details, see our Legacy Workflow Deprecation - Admin FAQ guide.
Account status and policy
- Permanent retirement: Legacy features have been globally retired and cannot be restored, opted back into, or re-enabled for individual accounts or institutions.
- No replacement tools: There are no plans to recreate or directly replace the retired legacy tools.
- Core tools preserved: All primary grading features (Rubrics, QuickMarks, and PeerMark) remain fully functional and supported within the assignment settings and Similarity Report environments.
