When creating an assignment, you may notice that the Multipart option is missing from the assignment picker. The Multipart tile only appears when specific account settings, licenses, and LMS requirements are met.
Account and feature requirements
1. Standard Assignments only
Multipart assignments require Standard Assignments or Clarity to be enabled on your account. If your institution is set to Standard (Classic) Assignments only, the Multipart tile will not appear, as Classic assignments cannot be used within a Multipart structure.
Next step: Contact your Turnitin administrator to verify whether New Standard Assignments or Clarity can be enabled for your institution.
2. License availability
Multipart assignments are available to institutions subscribed to Turnitin Feedback Studio+ (TFS+). If your institution is using a different Turnitin license, this feature may not be included in your plan.
Next step: If you are an instructor, reach out to your administrator. They may be able to confirm if your institution has the correct license. Your administrator can reach out to your institution's Turnitin account manager if they're not sure.
LMS technical requirements
Multipart assignments rely on your Learning Management System (LMS) to automatically create multiple LTI 1.3 resource links at once (one for each assignment part). If your LMS does not support bulk LTI link creation, Turnitin automatically hides the Multipart tile to prevent setup errors.
Supported LMS platforms:
- Canvas
- Blackboard
- D2L Brightspace
- Moodle
- Microsoft Teams
Known incompatible LMS platforms:
The following platforms do not support multi-link LTI workflows and cannot be used with Multipart assignments:
- Google Classroom
- Sakai
- Schoolbox
- Manaba
- In Campus
- AmpEducator
Note for other or unlisted LMS platforms:
While Multipart assignments are fully optimized for our supported LMS platforms, other platforms may experience compatibility limitations depending on how they handle assignment integration.
If you are using an unlisted LMS and encounter issues with Multipart assignments, please reach out to Turnitin Support so our team can review your specific setup.
If our technical team confirms an integration barrier with your platform, we may recommend using a standard Turnitin assignment type instead.
Quick requirements checklist
To use Multipart assignments, ensure that:
- Your institution uses a supported LMS (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L, Moodle, or MS Teams).
- Your account has New Standard Assignments or Clarity enabled (not Classic Only).
- Your institution is subscribed to Feedback Studio+.
If you meet all the criteria above but still cannot see the Multipart tile, please reach out to your institution's Turnitin administrator or Turnitin Support for assistance.
