When a student resubmits their work to an assignment, it is not possible to restore any previously overwritten versions.
What happens when a student resubmits?
Whether a student resubmits because an instructor deleted their initial paper or because resubmissions are allowed in the assignment settings, the previous version of the paper is overwritten by the latest submission.
Grading and feedback loss: Any marking, comments, or grading applied to the previous version before the resubmission will also be overwritten.
Permanent action: Overwritten versions, text, grading, and feedback cannot be recovered by Turnitin support.
How to keep track of multiple drafts
If you want to keep multiple drafts and preserve the feedback or grades for each stage, an instructor can create multiple assignments within the course.
For example, you can set up separate assignments named:
Draft 1
Revision
Final submission
Have students submit each revision of their paper to the corresponding assignment slot to ensure no work or feedback is lost.
