If you are using the Paper Lookup tool in iThenticate 2.0 and notice that searching by a submitter’s name fails to return expected results, or if your search results appear inconsistent, this may be due to the indexing model in the 2.0 platform.
Understanding the iThenticate 2.0 Indexing Model
In iThenticate 2.0, document indexing is based heavily on the Author Name entered at the time of submission:
Author-Based Indexing: When an Author Name is specified during upload, the Paper Lookup tool associates and indexes that file under that specific author's name. As a result, searching for the document using the submitter’s name will not display submissions where a different author was designated.
Migrated iThenticate V1 Accounts: If your account was upgraded from iThenticate V1, your search results may look inconsistent. This happens because legacy V1 submissions were historically indexed under the primary account owner, whereas all newer submissions now follow the 2.0 author-specific model.
Recommended Workarounds
If you are having trouble locating a specific submission, use the following methods to find your files and ensure consistent tracking moving forward:
Search by Paper ID: This is the most direct and accurate way to locate a specific file, completely bypassing any author or account naming discrepancies
Search by Exact Author Name: Query the precise Author Name that was entered when uploading
Leave the Author Field Blank: For the most reliable account-based tracking on future uploads, leave the Author field completely blank during submission. When left empty, the system will automatically default to indexing the file under the primary account owner
