When attempting to reset your password for iThenticate, you may encounter the following error message:
Error message: Reset password is not allowed for migrated users
Cause
This message occurs when your account was migrated to iThenticate 2.0, but you have not yet completed the initial sign-up and account activation process. The self-service password reset feature is disabled until your user setup is fully completed.
Resolution
Select your role below for instructions on how to activate your account:
If you are receiving this message, you must complete your initial account setup using a new activation link:
- Check your email inbox and spam/junk folders for your original activation email.
- If you cannot find the email or if the link has expired, contact your institution's iThenticate account administrator.
- Ask your administrator to resend your account activation email.
- Open the new email and follow all registration steps to complete setup before attempting to log in or reset your password.
If a migrated user reports this error, you will need to trigger a fresh activation email for them:
- Log in to your iThenticate administrator account.
- Navigate to user management and locate the pending user profile.
- Resend the activation link to the user's registered email address.
