If students are unable to view their Turnitin Similarity Reports and should have access to them, it may be due to a restriction within the assignment settings. These settings and the workflows to follow to update them differ depending on whether you are using the Classic Standard Assignment or New Standard Assignment experience. Please refer to the guidance below relevant to the type of assignment you are using.
Please navigate to the assignment settings and check the following under Optional settings:
Is the assignment enabled to generate Similarity Reports?
If not, you will need to enable this option for future submissions so that they generate a Similarity Report.
For papers that have already been submitted, changing the setting will not generate Similarity Reports retrospectively. You will need to raise a support ticket so that we can manually generate them for you.
Is the assignment set to allow students to view Similarity Reports?
If not, you will need to change this and save the assignment settings if you wish for students to view their Similarity Report. Once updated, students will then be able to view their Similarity Reports.
Is the assignment set to generate Similarity Reports on due date?
If the assignment is set to generate Similarity Reports ‘on due date’, then it is expected that no reports will be available until the due date and time of the assignment has passed. If you would like students to see their Similarity Reports before the assignment due date, open the Optional Settings in the relevant assignment. Then, under Generate Similarity Reports for student submissions, select immediately first report is final or immediately (can overwrite reports until due date) from the dropdown.
