When using Turnitin through an LTI integration, you can customize the sorting order of student submissions directly within the assignment inbox using the column headers.
However, custom sorting applied in the LTI inbox does not transfer to Turnitin Feedback Studio. When navigating between papers within Turnitin Feedback Studio, submissions will display in Turnitin's default submission order rather than the sorted order established in your LTI inbox.
Recommended Workflow
If you want to view and grade submissions in a specific sequence:
- Sort your inbox: Arrange the submissions in your LTI assignment inbox based on your preferred column criteria
- Open individual papers: Select and open a submission directly from the assignment inbox
- Avoid navigation arrows: Rather than using the left and right navigation arrows within Turnitin Feedback Studio to move to the next paper, close the Feedback Studio viewer tab/window after reviewing each paper
- Return to the inbox: Click the next submission directly from your sorted LMS assignment inbox
