Managing individual users product access when logging in via SSO

When users authenticate via Single Sign-On (SSO), the system automatically grants User permissions for all active products (e.g., Originality, Authorship, etc.) by default. Currently, these default permissions cannot be restricted or modified automatically at the point of login.

Manual Configuration

If you need to restrict a user to a specific product (for example, allowing access to Authorship but removing access to Originality), an administrator must adjust these settings manually:

  1. Navigate to the Users section of your Turnitin administrator dashboard

  2. Select the specific user account you wish to modify

  3. Adjust the product permissions on a per-product basis (e.g., set a product to No Access or Instructor)

Important Considerations

  • Manual Effort: These permissions must be managed on a per-user basis. Bulk updates for product-specific access are not currently supported.

  • System Defaults: Any new user logging in via SSO for the first time will still receive the standard default permissions until an administrator manually intervenes.
