Can I exclude matches from my Similarity Report?

Students cannot manually exclude matches or sources from their own Similarity Reports.

If your report shows a high or 100% Similarity score, this most commonly happens if the document (or a previous draft) was already submitted to Turnitin multiple times.

How can I request a match exclusion?

If you believe a specific match should be excluded to accurately reflect the originality of your work, please contact your instructor.

  • Instructor authority: Instructors can review your report and manually exclude specific matches at their discretion.

  • How to help your instructor: To make the process smoother, you can share the Turnitin Instructor Help Guides with them. They can navigate to the relevant resources for your version of the Similarity Report and find step-by-step instructions on how to manage exclusions and filters within a Similarity Report.
