If the AI writing indicator appears gray with a dashed line icon (--) and displays the message "AI writing detection unavailable" when you hover over it, Turnitin was unable to process the submission and generate an AI writing detection report.
This may be because:
The submission was made before the release of Turnitin's AI writing detection capabilities on the 4th of April 2023
The submission does not meet the file requirements needed to successfully process it for AI Writing Detection
To generate an AI writing report for an affected document, please use the appropriate resolution below:
For historical submissions: The only way to generate an AI score for a paper submitted prior to April 4, 2023, is to resubmit the file to an active assignment
For file requirement issues: You must update the document so that it meets all necessary file criteria then resubmit it
