How do I fix the "Authentication Failed. Sorry, something went wrong logging you in" error in Draft Coach?

If student users are trying to launch Turnitin Draft Coach in Google Docs or Microsoft Word Online and receive the error message below, there is likely a configuration issue with your institution's mapped email domains.

Authentication Failed. Sorry, something went wrong logging you in. Please try again later.

Note: This error message will be displayed in both Google Docs and Microsoft Word Online for the reasons stated below.

Possible causes and solutions

Review the sections below to identify why this error is occurring and how to resolve it.

The same email domain has been used in Google and Microsoft

It is currently not possible to configure Turnitin Draft Coach within your Turnitin account to be used in both Google Docs and Microsoft Word Online for the same email domain.

You can authenticate up to 10 domains and link them to a mix of Google or Microsoft; however, each individual email domain can only be used for either Microsoft or Google. It cannot work for both platforms at the same time.

The email domain in use is not mapped to your Turnitin account

All institutional email domains that are authorized to use Turnitin Draft Coach must be explicitly mapped to your account's Turnitin Draft Coach setup. Turnitin account administrators can map up to 10 institutional domains.
