To self-enroll in a Turnitin class, you must enter a specific numeric Class ID and a matching Enrollment Key provided by your instructor.
If you attempt to enroll and receive an error stating your credentials are incorrect, please follow the troubleshooting steps below:
1. Check for formatting errors
The majority of enrollment errors are caused by minor typos.
Watch for blank spaces: If you copied and pasted the credentials, ensure you didn't accidentally include a hidden blank space before or after the text.
Check your capitalization: The Enrollment Key is case-sensitive. Ensure your Caps Lock is off and that you are entering any uppercase and lowercase letters exactly as your instructor wrote them.
2. Verify the credentials with your instructor
If you type the credentials perfectly and still see an error, the instructor may have updated the key or provided credentials for a previous semester's class.
Reach out to your instructor to double-check that you have the most up-to-date Class ID and Enrollment Key for your specific class.
3. Request a manual enrollment
If you have verified the credentials with your instructor but you're still experiencing issues with enrolling:
Ask your instructor to add you manually: Instructors have the ability to completely bypass the enrollment key process and add you to the class roster directly from their own Turnitin dashboard.
