What should I do if my submission is missing?

When you successfully submit a paper to Turnitin, the system generates a digital receipt containing a unique submission ID. We highly recommend downloading and saving this receipt for every submission.

đź“‹ Why the Submission ID matters: If your paper disappears from view and your instructor cannot locate it, the Turnitin Technical Support team will require your Turnitin submission ID to help trace the missing file.

Troubleshooting: Why is my submission missing?

If you cannot see your paper within the assignment inbox, please review the common reasons below to locate your submission:

The submission process was not finalized

If you didn't receive a confirmation or digital receipt, you may have missed the final validation step during the upload process. If the upload is interrupted or incomplete, the paper won't reach our servers.

👉 Recommended action: Please resubmit your paper. If the assignment deadline has passed or you're unable to resubmit, reach out directly to your instructor for assistance.

The paper was deleted by your instructor

Instructors have the ability to remove submissions from the assignment inbox.

👉 Recommended action: Contact your instructor to verify if they deleted your original paper, or if they require you to upload it again.

You are no longer enrolled in the class

If you drop a course, or if your instructor accidentally unenrolls/drops you from the class roster, your user profile and associated assignments will disappear from the active dashboard view.

👉 Recommended action: Contact your instructor to confirm your enrollment status and ask them to re-enroll you in the class roster. Your previous submission history will reappear once you are re-enrolled.
