Why is the Turnitin not displaying correctly in my Moodle environment?

To ensure proper layout, feature visibility, and system performance, Turnitin plugins require compatible Moodle themes.

Supported themes: Turnitin Moodle plugins officially support the Boost and Classic themes.

Plugin theme compatibility

If your institution connects to Turnitin using any of the following plugin integrations, please ensure your Moodle site uses either the Boost or Classic theme:

  • Turnitin Direct V2
  • Turnitin Plagiarism Plugin
  • Turnitin Integrity Plugin

Warning: Using unsupported third-party themes with Turnitin plugins may cause unexpected visual errors, broken assignment navigation, or submission issues.

Using custom Moodle themes

If your institution uses a custom Moodle theme rather than Boost or Classic, we recommend integrating via Turnitin LTI 1.3 instead of a plugin. LTI 1.3 operates independently of local Moodle themes and provides a consistent experience across custom user interfaces.

Need help? If you are unsure which theme or integration type your institution uses, please contact your institution's Moodle Site Administrator.
