There may be occasions when students and/or instructors receive the Turnitin error message: You are not authorized to access this resource.
This error message displays when a student or instructor is not enrolled in the Turnitin class associated with the assignment. Although the user may be enrolled in the Moodle course, the user role is not being passed back to Turnitin.
To help resolve this issue, please ensure you are enrolled as an instructor within the Turnitin Tutor tab of the affected assignment.
If you are successfully enrolled as a Turnitin Tutor, please ask your Moodle site administrator to unlink and relink your user details to refresh your user mapping.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please have the Moodle site administrator check your user permissions. Instructors should have the following permissions set as Yes:
- Add
- Grade
- Read
- View
To access user role permissions, the Moodle site administrator can follow the navigation pathway provided below:
Site Admin > Users > Permissions > Check System permissions > Select user > Show users permissions.
If the issue is not resolved after following the steps above, please raise a support ticket with Turnitin Technical Support. In your support ticket, please also include the troubleshooting steps you have attempted to resolve this error, as this will help expedite the resolution process.
