Within the Moodle Direct Turnitin integration, you may encounter the error message You are not allowed to view this paper. M20: 16 when clicking on the blue pencil icon next to a submission in your inbox. The message is displayed as Turnitin attempts to load the paper in Feedback Studio for grading and the Turnitin class has expired.
The end date of Moodle courses syncs to corresponding Turnitin classes. You can extend a Turnitin class by setting the Moodle course end date to a date in the future. Please note, this workflow applies to Moodle plugin versions from June 2021 onwards. If you are using a plugin version from before June 2021, you will need to upgrade this to the latest plugin version. Further guidance on how to do so can be found here.
This also means that when a Moodle course reaches its end date, the corresponding Turnitin class will expire a month after that date. The additional month provides a grace period between the Moodle course ending and the Turnitin class expiring, so that the class content does not immediately become read-only in Turnitin on the Moodle course end date.
Note: For course dates to sync with Turnitin classes, a Turnitin assignment within the Moodle course needs to be interacted with. This can be done by saving the assignment settings as an instructor (no need to modify anything), or making a submission, etc. The interaction will sync the data between Moodle and Turnitin.
