I no longer have access to Turnitin's AI Writing Detection capabilities

Access to the preview version of Turnitin’s AI Writing Detection capabilities, made available to all customers as of April 2023, ended on December 31, 2023.

As of January 1, 2024, only customers licensing Originality or Turnitin Feedback Studio with Originality have access to AI writing detection capabilities.

Access to the preview of this feature was enabled for all of our customers as part of their existing licenses upon launch in April 2023 to help them understand how our detector works as well as comprehend if AI writing tools are being used at their institutions.

As the preview phase has now come to an end, access to this capability is only available to customers that license Turnitin Originality. Furthermore, with the end of the preview phase, the AI Writing Detection score and the AI writing report are no longer visible for any submissions, including those that were submitted before the end of December 31, 2023.

Since AI Writing Detection is now only available to customers that license Originality, we have updated our administrator user settings in the backend to manage usage within our products. This means that if your institution decides not to license Originality and/or to disable the AI Writing Detection feature within the main account for your institution, any sub-account under the main account will lose access to the feature.

If you are unsure whether your institution’s license includes Turnitin Originality or would like access to our AI Writing Detection feature, please speak to your Turnitin account administrator.
